Lesiba Modiba

Since 1990 Lesibe Modiba has been integral in many infrastructure projects throughout South Africa and has contributed his unparalleled skills to numerous teams of highly skilled consulting and construction engineers. He has contributed towards an array of advances, some of which included installation of municipal infrastructure services for residential, commercial and industrial developments, urban rural roads planning and design, stormwater attenuation and management systems, as well as and project management services for several provincial departments.

Much of his invaluable experience was gained during his early years as a Civil Engineer designing municipal infrastructure services such as water reticulation, sewer reticulation, stormwater attenuation and systems. He was also involved in the arterial roads and access streets for mass housing projects in Khayelitsha Village 3, Rooihuiskraal Meadowdale Industrial Township 14. Between 1995 and 1996 Lesibe was employed by one of the top five listed construction firms where he gained further experience in the construction of environmental management structures. These endeavours include engineered lined ponds for the retention of polluted mining process effluent, roads, water and wastewater treatment plants and other mining structures such as coal transfer works and heavy haul roads in Mpumalanga, Free State and Swaziland.

In 1997 Lesibe went back to the consulting engineering sector where he was pivotal in the compilation of the transportation plans for the athletes participating in the All Africa Games held in Johannesburg and the conceptual upgrade design of the railway stations along the Dunswart Daveyton rail corridor.

Lesibe holds a National Diploma in Civil Engineering, a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering, is a member of the South African Black Technical and Allied Careers Organisation (SABTACO) and is legible to as a Professional Engineering Technologist with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)

Thabiso Morailane

Thabiso Morailane has been in the Electrical and Electronic engineering field for the past 12 years. His career started as a draftsperson where he first learned how to prepare and draw using the advanced AutoCAD program in the building engineering environment. He then started working as a Project Engineer and Project Manager responsible for electrification projects of villages and water and sewer treatment plants.

He gained priceless experience on the following:

  • Underground MV and LV reticulation in urban and industrial areas
  • Lightning and surge protection on structures and electrical infrastructures
  • Standby power systems, generator sets, UPS
  • Internal, external and aesthetical lighting
  • Security systems, fire detection and access control
  • Electrical building services design, including commercial, industrial, retail, health, education, leisure and government sectors
  • Electronic services systems including fire detection and alarm, telephone and data, CCTV and access control and intruder alarm systems
  • Cost estimation and equipment selection
  • Tender documentation, specifications, tender evaluation and construction monitoring
  • Testing and commissioning reports, review and approval of O&M manuals
  • Post contract/tenant related work
  • Project management on large and medium sized projects

Thabiso holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Project Management Certificate from Damelin. He is also a member of the South African Institute Of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE).

Mandisa Booi

Mandisa is a Strategic Leader with a demonstrated record of exceeding performance outputs, turning around businesses and streamlining business processes for optimum performance.

In her experience Mandisa has specialised mainly in finance modelling strategies, business and operating strategies, cost saving initiatives for a variety of organisations from diverse industries including healthcare and development industries. She was Chief Financial Officer both at NAFCOC (National African Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and ASCCI (Association of SADC Chambers of Commerce and Industry) from 2004 to 2007 where her responsibilities included amongst other things analysing and assessing internal and external financial operations for the Chambers.

She has gained in depth knowledge on matters of corporate governance and directorship. Her stint at ASCCI and programme management at DBSA (Development Bank of Southern Africa) exposed her to a wide variety of challenges and interesting roles involving regional integration initiatives and infrastructure development.

Her experience in Africa’s economic regions that she acquired through her work with Nepad (The New Partnership for Africa’s Development), APRM (Africa Peer Review Mechanism) and DFID’s (Department for International Development – GOV.UK) programme called TradeMark has insighted her passion for economic development in Africa. In pursuant of her passion, she founded Fonda Consulting which aims at unearthing and originating infrastructure projects in Africa. As a platform for projects originated by Fonda, she became a Director – Business Development for BES Africa Engineering & Management Consult. Further to her business development role, she also mobilizes funds and forms collaboration with technical partners to ensure that project financial close is achieved and technical capacity is provided.
